Casio Expands Its Wearables with New Watches and a Smart Ring
Casio is making significant strides in the wearable technology space, moving beyond traditional timepieces to embrace fitness tracking capabilities. Recently, the company unveiled two new watches along with an upgraded version of its smart ring, designed to monitor key health metrics while worn.
Introducing the Casio CRW-H001 Smart Ring
The new smart ring, known as the Casio CRW-H001, offers a sleek design reminiscent of a tiny watch, but with added functionalities. It tracks essential health metrics such as steps, sleep, heart rate, and body temperature. Not only does it monitor physical activity, but it also provides alerts for incoming smartphone notifications, making it a practical accessory for those on the go.
Compared to its predecessor, the Casio CRW-001-1JR, launched in 2024, this new iteration is a substantial upgrade. The previous model primarily offered basic timekeeping and alarm functions with no fitness tracking or companion app support. In contrast, the CRW-H001 is a genuine smart ring, although it is currently available only in China for 1,990 yuan (approximately $295 / £220 / AU$420). Given that the earlier model did make its way to international markets, there is optimism that this latest device will follow suit.
New Watches: The Casio ABL-100WE Series
The watches added to Casio’s lineup are part of the ABL-100WE series. Currently listed on the Casio UK website, this series includes two models: the ABL-100WE-2A with a black finish and the ABL-100WE-7A featuring a silver finish. Both models retain the classic Casio aesthetic while introducing modern features that cater to fitness enthusiasts.
These watches come equipped with a step counting function that can sync to a smartphone via Bluetooth. Users can view their step counts directly on the built-in screen along with simple graphs that display their recent progress. Enhanced features also include water resistance and dual time zone support. Although the fitness tracking capabilities are somewhat basic, users can receive alerts when they meet their daily step count goals. The watches are offered with multi-row stainless steel bracelets, combining style with utility.
Currently priced at £70 (around $95 / AU$135), these models are only available through Casio’s UK site, leaving international buyers awaiting further information regarding global availability.
In conclusion, Casio continues to evolve as it integrates fitness tracking into its classic designs, appealing to a broader audience. With these new offerings, the brand combines its reliable watch-making heritage with modern health monitoring technology, paving the way for future innovations.
