Sony Set to Unveil New Xperia Product on August 25
Sony has officially announced a launch event scheduled for August 25, commencing at 11 AM Japan time. While the tech giant has confirmed that this event will introduce a new Xperia product, they have yet to disclose its specific name. However, industry insiders speculate that this unveiling could very well be for the anticipated Xperia 10 VIII. Recent sightings on Geekbench and the appearance of an official-looking image have fueled this speculation.
The image shared by Android Headlines sheds light on the design of the Xperia 10 VIII, which closely resembles its predecessor, the Xperia 10 VII. This design choice indicates that Sony may be opting for a more incremental refresh rather than a radical redesign. The rear of the device features a dual-camera setup, elegantly housed within a horizontally aligned camera island emblazoned with the Sony logo. Additionally, the NFC logo is prominently displayed just below the camera island, hinting at potential features available for contactless payments.

On the right side of the Xperia 10 VIII, the standard volume rocker and power button are visible, with the power button likely serving as a fingerprint scanner. While the previous model, the Xperia 10 VII, included a physical camera shutter button below the power key, this feature is obscured in the current image by an individual’s hand. It remains to be seen whether the camera shutter has been retained or removed in this iteration.

While the design image of the Xperia 10 VIII provides some insight, additional information reveals more about its internal specifications. According to Geekbench results, the upcoming device will operate on Android 16 and will be powered by the Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 System on Chip (SoC). This is the same processor that equipped its predecessor, the Xperia 10 VII. The version of the Xperia 10 VIII tested on Geekbench featured 8GB of RAM; however, it remains unclear if there will be additional RAM configurations available. The Xperia 10 VII, for instance, was offered in a single configuration of 8GB/128GB, leaving consumers eager for more options in the new model.
