Minecraft has long proven its versatility, running on nearly any device boasting a screen. On October 27, the iconic block-building game is set to make its debut on a platform specifically designed for the Nintendo Switch 2. Mojang has announced that this native version will feature Vibrant Visuals enabled by default, leveraging the powerhouse capabilities of the newer console to enhance the game’s beloved Overworld. Notably, existing Nintendo Switch users will have access to a digital upgrade, with pricing and further details to be disclosed shortly.
These blocks have been hitting the lighting tutorials
Mojang
The introduction of Vibrant Visuals offers significant enhancements to Minecraft’s graphical capabilities, including improved directional lighting, upgraded shadows, and various other visual upgrades. These advancements create a more immersive experience while maintaining the game’s signature block design. Vibrant Visuals first became available on supported Bedrock Edition platforms in 2025 and stands as the largest official visual overhaul for Minecraft to date.
Additionally, Nintendo’s exclusive Super Mario Mash-Up pack will also receive the Vibrant Visuals treatment. Fans can expect improved Mario-themed skins, music, and environments, particularly in iconic locations such as Peach’s Castle and Delfino Plaza. However, players should note that Vibrant Visuals will be unavailable during split-screen multiplayer and may be disabled in certain Marketplace worlds and other pieces of content.
The Joy-Con mouse question remains buried underground
Mojang
As anticipation builds, one lingering question remains unanswered: will Minecraft support the Joy-Con 2 controllers’ mouse mode? This feature would certainly complement the game’s foundation, which revolves around placing and removing blocks with precision, particularly for those aspiring to create intricate designs.
Mojang has also withheld several key details, such as resolution and frame-rate goals. Fortunately, existing Switch cartridges are backward compatible with the Switch 2, meaning that this new native release will primarily target players looking for enhanced visuals and optimizations tailored for the new hardware. With the launch just a few months away on October 27, Mojang has a small window to clarify these details, allowing Switch 2 owners ample time to prepare their most visually stunning square homes for the upgrade.
