Apple has unveiled its latest flagship devices—the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max—featuring several significant hardware enhancements. While the new models retain the overall design aesthetic of their predecessors, notable advancements have been made in key areas such as display technology, processing power, camera capabilities, and battery efficiency.
The Pro series offers four sophisticated color options, including an exclusive new Burgundy hue. The lineup is completed with Glacier, Black, and Silver finishes.
Smaller Dynamic Island and Familiar Displays
The iPhone 18 Pro boasts a 6.3-inch display, while the Pro Max features a 6.9-inch screen. Both models employ LTPO Super Retina XDR OLED technology, ensuring exceptional quality. Notably, the resolution, refresh rate, and brightness specifications remain unchanged from the previous iterations. However, Apple has downsized the Dynamic Island, now capable of displaying up to three live activities concurrently.
The front camera retains its 18MP sensor, without any upgrade, maintaining the same selfie capabilities as before.
A20 Pro Brings Major Performance Gains
The most significant upgrade lies in the A20 Pro chip, which is constructed using a cutting-edge 2nm process. This new processing unit introduces an additional CPU core and an impressive new GPU core, along with an enhanced second Neural Engine. The updated architecture totals six CPU cores, with two being “desktop-class” super cores.
Apple claims that the newly designed 7-core GPU outperforms its predecessor—the A19 Pro—by delivering up to 40% faster graphics processing. Enhanced neural accelerators and increased memory bandwidth, which Apple states has improved by 50%, further amplify the device’s capabilities.
New Cooling System for Better Heat Control
Apple’s enhancement of thermal management in both Pro models is noteworthy. Utilizing a next-generation vapor chamber, the phones achieve superior heat dissipation, boasting three times the area compared to the vapor chamber of the iPhone 17 Pro. The redesigned silicon packaging aims to facilitate even better cooling, inspired by Apple’s M-series chips, directly connecting silicon and memory to the vapor chamber to efficiently move heat away from critical components.
Variable Aperture Comes to the Main Camera
The iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max continue to feature a tri-camera system with three 48MP rear cameras. However, the standout addition is the main camera’s variable aperture, allowing users to manually adjust the aperture up to f/4.0. This enables enhanced low-light performance, potentially capturing up to 50% more light in darker settings. Additional features like adjustable shutter speeds and new Photographic Styles afford users greater creative control over their photography.
Longer Battery Life and Faster Charging
While specific battery capacities have yet to be disclosed, Apple asserts that the iPhone 18 Pro Max provides the longest battery life in the history of iPhones. Offering up to 45 hours of video playback, it grants users exceptional longevity. The iPhone 18 Pro is reported to support up to 36 hours of video playback. Charging speeds have also seen an upgrade; Apple claims that users can achieve a 50% charge in just 15 minutes.
iOS 27 and New Siri AI
The new models operate on iOS 27, which features Apple’s latest AI advancements. An updated Siri now offers broader support for third-party applications. Additionally, the dedicated Siri app enables users to store and sync previous conversations across their Apple devices. However, at launch, this upgraded Siri will not be available in the EU or China, with Apple planning a beta release later this month.
iPhone 18 Pro Price and Availability in Pakistan
The iPhone 18 Pro begins at $1,199 for the 256GB model, while the iPhone 18 Pro Max is priced at $1,299 with identical storage capacity. This represents a $100 increase compared to their predecessors. In Pakistan, PTA taxes are anticipated to significantly inflate the final price.
