Apple Unveils the New iPhone 17e: A Closer Look
Apple has officially introduced the iPhone 17e, maintaining the same price point of $599/£599 as its predecessor, the iPhone 16e. This sub-flagship smartphone comes with several noteworthy upgrades, notably the inclusion of MagSafe and an enhanced starting storage level of 256GB.
Performance Enhancements
At the heart of the iPhone 17e is the robust A19 chip, already featured in the iPhone 17, ensuring top-tier performance. Complementing this is the new C1X cellular chip designed by Apple, which also powers the iPhone Air. These enhancements promise improved connectivity and speed, making it an attractive option for users looking for efficiency.
What Remains Unchanged
Despite the new enhancements, several features of the iPhone 16e have been retained. The iPhone 17e continues to utilize a single 48MP Fusion camera, which includes a sensor with a 2x telephoto zoom equivalent. Additionally, the OLED display lacks a 120Hz refresh rate, a feature present in other models within the iPhone 17 series. Users will also notice the absence of the Dynamic Island cut-out, with the device instead retaining the familiar notch at the top of the screen.
Aesthetic Options
In terms of design, the iPhone 17e will be available in three elegant matte finishes: black, white, and a new soft pink. The front glass features the same durable Ceramic Shield 2 coating as the rest of the iPhone 17 lineup, promising enhanced protection against scratches and drops. The pink variant, being a fresh addition, is likely to appeal to a wide audience and is expected to sell out quickly.
