Introduction to Emeet

If you haven’t heard of Emeet before, you’re not alone. Previously, the company mainly produced work-based tech products, such as cameras and speakers. Recently, however, Emeet made its foray into the earbuds market with the Emeet Airflow, the brand’s first pair of earbuds.

Understanding Open-Ear Design

The Emeet Airflow features an open-ear design, utilizing air conduction technology. This unique setup places a small speaker on the outside of your ear rather than in your ear canal, contrasting the typical structure of most wireless earbuds. This design trend has gained popularity recently, as seen in our best open-ear headphones guide, where several smaller audio tech brands join well-known companies like Bose in offering similar styles.

Advantages of Open-Ear Technology

Open-ear headphones are appealing for various reasons. They allow users to enjoy music while remaining aware of their surroundings—ideal for runners, cyclists, or anyone needing to stay alert in their environment, such as parents working from home. Additionally, these designs cater to those uncomfortable with the sensation of traditional earbuds, which can create a stuffed-ear feeling.

Challenges in Open-Ear Design

Getting open-ear design right can be tricky. After testing numerous models from our open-ear headphones guide, I found that many struggled with stability, particularly for those who wear glasses or have longer hair. So, how do the Emeet Airflow measure up?

Performance of Emeet Airflow

Surprisingly well. I experienced minor fit issues when positioning the Airflow behind my ears alongside glasses. However, once adjusted, they proved to be a secure and comfortable option, often preferable to bigger name brands. While the audio clarity does vary, the sound quality is commendable for an open-ear design, making it suitable for office environments.

Unique Features of the Emeet Airflow

The Emeet Airflow offers an array of features that enhance their functionality. Notably, a detachable microphone significantly upgrades work calls. Additionally, the charging case claims to utilize UV light to disinfect the earbuds, a feature not commonly found in similar products.

Overall Review

As long as you’re not expecting sonic excellence—typically challenging with air conduction technology—the Emeet Airflow proves to be a solid choice for anyone primarily interested in office use or work-related calls.

Comparative Analysis

Retailing at $179.99 in the US, £129.99 in the UK, and approximately AU$272 in Australia, the Emeet Airflow is positioned in the mid-range market. They are slightly cheaper than the similar 1More Fit Open Earbuds S50, priced at $149.99, and comparable to the JBL Soundgear Sense.

Comfort and Design

The Emeet Airflow exhibits a simple yet corporate look, making them suitable for office environments without appearing overly casual. Their touch controls function effectively, especially since a secure fit prevents accidental activations. Weighing only 8.5g per bud, their lightweight construction enhances comfort.

Capabilities and Battery Life

One of the standout features of the Emeet Airflow is its impressive battery life, boasting eight hours of use from the buds alone and an additional 40 hours via the charging case. This performance exceeds that of competitors like the Shokz OpenFit.

Connectivity Features

The Emeet Airflow supports multi-point connectivity, although initial pairing with a laptop via a USB dongle felt a bit complex compared to straightforward phone connections. The Emeet Tune app offers basic controls, including EQ adjustments.

Audio Quality

The sound quality is surprisingly robust, given the open design. Tracks displayed clarity and detail, with impressive midrange performance—particularly on genres like soulful pop. However, the lack of bass could detract from your experience with rock or punk tracks. Emeet claims their earbuds minimize sound leakage, a statement that holds up under testing.

Call Quality

Call clarity is enhanced significantly with the detachable mic, but built-in omnidirectional microphones also provide decent sound for voice calls. Emeet’s “VoiceCore algorithm” filters out background noise effectively, making these buds suitable for work environments.

Final Verdict

I tested the Emeet Airflow extensively over three weeks in various situations, including commuting and gym workouts. My experience showcased their versatility for casual listening and professional use alike.

Buy It If…

  • You are looking for comfort and a secure fit.
  • You primarily use earbuds for office calls.

Don’t Buy It If…

  • You prioritize deep bass and immersive sound.
  • You require earbuds specifically for high-intensity workouts.
