Sony Xperia 10 VIII: What to Expect from the Upcoming Release
Sony is anticipated to unveil its next Xperia phone in just a few days, and a recent leak may have already given us a glimpse of the Xperia 10 VIII. An image circulating online, courtesy of Android Headlines, showcases what appears to be the Xperia 10 VIII as we approach Sony’s highly awaited event on August 25 in Japan.
Although Sony has only formally acknowledged the arrival of a new “Xperia Product,” recent leaks consistently point toward the Xperia 10 VIII. If the leaked image is accurate, it seems Sony is opting for a design that closely resembles last year’s model.
The Familiar Design of the Xperia 10 VIII
Upon first inspection, distinguishing the leaked Xperia 10 VIII from its predecessor, the Xperia 10 VII, is quite challenging. The design features a horizontal camera module outfitted with two rear cameras, an LED flash, and Sony’s branding, presenting a sense of continuity in design language.

The device is showcased in a soft green finish, while the right side features the familiar volume controls and a recessed power button, indicating the potential for a side-mounted fingerprint scanner. As the image only displays the rear and part of the side, we’re left speculating about any noticeable changes to the front-facing design and display.
Expected Specifications: Continuity Over Innovation?
The similarity in design may not be the only aspect to carry over from the Xperia 10 VII. A recent Geekbench listing for the potential Xperia 10 VIII, identified by the model number XQ-GH54, reveals it may feature a Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 processor paired with 8GB of RAM.

This may suggest that significant performance upgrades could be minimal for this generation—the Geekbench scores hint at a single-core performance of 871 points and a multi-core performance of 3,028 points, mirroring last year’s results.
As previously reported, the event will kick off at 11 a.m. Japan time on August 25, which equates to 10 p.m. ET on August 24 for those in the United States. While Xperia phones continue to be available in select markets, including Japan, the UK, and Germany, Sony has decreased its smartphone presence in the U.S., making it unlikely for the Xperia 10 VIII to see a stateside release.
Expect Sony to elaborate on the remaining details concerning camera features, battery specifications, pricing, and availability during the upcoming event.
