The Jabees 7Seven Swimming Headphones: Affordable Innovation

The Jabees 7Seven swimming headphones offer a compelling blend of features that are often absent in their more expensive competitors, like Shokz, but at around half the price. Weighing only 28g, these headphones are incredibly lightweight and come equipped with 32GB of MP3 storage, making them ideal for underwater listening, where Bluetooth connectivity is often unreliable.

Impressive Features for a Budget Price

This ample storage capacity puts the 7Seven headphones in the same category as the more expensive Nank Runner Diver2 Pro and H20 Audio Tri 2 Pro. Additionally, the headphones feature multipoint connectivity and Bluetooth 6.0, allowing seamless switching between multiple devices. This is particularly useful for users who want to switch from their phone while running to their laptop during work hours. However, while the integrated microphone performs well enough for calls, the audio quality can be tinny at higher volumes. Test calls during a rainy run demonstrated that while the caller could hear me clearly, the audio quality received was not optimal.

Sound Quality: A Surprising Performance

Despite some limitations in call quality, the music playback is commendable. Whether streaming via Bluetooth or directly playing from the internal storage, the sound quality is impressive, especially for budget bone conduction headphones. However, the transistors can vibrate noticeably at higher volumes, especially when outside of water. This vibration, while audible when running or in an office, significantly diminishes underwater, allowing for a more pleasant swimming experience.

Intuitive Controls and Fit Issues

Control operation is straightforward, with volume buttons also functioning as track skip controls. The multifunction power button involves a variety of long and short presses, which may require some initial referencing of the manual. One notable drawback is the fit around the ears, which is not adjustable. While the 7Sevens come with a ‘secure fit loop’—a common feature in bone conduction headsets to enhance the fit—some users may find it insufficient. Furthermore, the battery life of five hours may necessitate frequent recharging, which could be a concern during extended use.

A Value Proposition

Ultimately, the Jabees 7Seven headphones represent solid value for your money. They come equipped with a range of features that can compete with far more expensive brands like Shokz and H20, including the same 32GB storage. While the battery life may not last through an event like an Ironman, it should be sufficient for multiple pool sessions and runs—making them a budget-friendly option for fitness enthusiasts.

  • $59.99 / £47.99 / AU$99
  • More affordable than most high-quality swimming headphones
  • 32GB of storage comparable to pricier models

If you are looking for an affordable way to enjoy music while swimming or running without breaking the bank, the Jabees 7Seven headphones are a great choice.

Conversely, if you are expecting premium sound quality or extensive battery life, this option may not fully meet your needs.

I tested the Jabees 7Seven thoroughly, both in water and during varied runs, assessing battery performance, sound quality, and fit using the provided secure loop.
