Redmi Skips Note 16 Series, Prepares for Note 17 Launch
In an unexpected move, Redmi has chosen to bypass the Note 16 series and dive straight into the 17 series, scheduled for release later this month. According to rumors, the new lineup will feature four models: Redmi Note 17, 17 Pro, 17 Pro Max, and 17R. While some leaked specifications have surfaced for these devices, ambiguity surrounds some details.
Redmi Note 17 Specifications
The base model, Redmi Note 17, is rumored to sport a flat 6.83-inch display with a resolution of 1.5K. It may be powered by either a Snapdragon 6 Gen 5 chipset or a Snapdragon 6s Gen 4, as conflicting reports have emerged in recent industry discussions. One of the standout features of this model is its impressive 9,000mAh battery alongside 67W fast charging capabilities. Additionally, it is expected to include a 50MP camera, bringing enhanced photographic potential to budget-conscious consumers.

Redmi Note 17 Pro and Pro Max Insights
Following the base model, the Redmi Note 17 Pro is also drawing speculation. Recent reports attribute the Snapdragon 6 Gen 5 chipset to this model, though earlier rumors suggested it might include a Dimensity 7500 processor. This variant, similar to the Note 17, may also feature a 9,000mAh battery and a 50MP camera.
Conversely, the Redmi Note 17 Pro Max is anticipated to incorporate more advanced specifications, including the Dimensity 7500 chipset, a significant 200MP camera, and an even larger 10,100mAh battery. It will reportedly come with a flat 1.5K OLED display, although it remains unclear if this will match the 6.83-inch size of other models.
Software and Other Features
All the new devices will be launched with HyperOS 3.1, based on Android 16, enhancing the overall user experience. Moreover, the series is set to feature stereo speakers, further improving the multimedia usage of these smartphones. While details about the Redmi Note 17R remain scarce, anticipation builds as consumers look forward to official announcements.
A Glance at Previous Models
For context, the Redmi Note 15 series did not include a Pro Max model, instead offering a Pro+ option. The models in the previous generation employed different chipsets, such as the Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 and Dimensity 7400 Ultra, with maximum camera capabilities reaching 200MP. Notably, battery capacities were significantly lower than what is expected in the upcoming series, with the Redmi Note 15 models ranging from 5,520mAh to 6,580mAh, which pales in comparison to the impending 9,000mAh and 10,100mAh figures.
