Huawei Expands Its Foldable Lineup with the Nova Flip S
Huawei has quietly introduced the Nova Flip S in China, refining its foldable smartphone range with a more affordable option following the original Nova Flip model that launched in August 2024. This new clamshell foldable not only brings two fresh color choices but also presents a slightly lower price point, while preserving many of the features that made its predecessor beloved among mid-range foldable users.
Huawei Nova Flip S Specifications and Features
The Nova Flip S sports a 6.94-inch full-HD+ (2690×1136) foldable OLED main display alongside a 2.14-inch OLED cover screen, both crafted with rounded corners for a stylish finish. The outer display offers a clear 480×480 resolution, while the main screen boasts impressive specifications, including the P3 wide color gamut, a 120Hz LTPO adaptive refresh rate, 1440Hz high-frequency PWM dimming, and a 300Hz touch sampling rate. These features collectively ensure vibrant, smooth, and responsive visuals.
Although Huawei has not officially detailed the chipset or RAM configurations, it is speculated that the Nova Flip S runs on the Kirin 8000 processor, which is also utilized in the standard Nova Flip. The device is available in two storage options: 256GB and 512GB, and it operates on HarmonyOS 5.1 out of the box.
One of the standout features of the Nova Flip S is its camera system. It includes a 50-megapixel primary sensor with an f/1.9 aperture, complemented by an 8-megapixel ultra-wide lens with an f/2.2 aperture. Users can expect 4K video recording capabilities from the main camera, while the inner display is equipped with a 32-megapixel selfie camera, also boasting an f/2.2 aperture. As with any camera system, images may vary based on lighting conditions and selected shooting modes.
Powered by a 4,400mAh battery, the Nova Flip S supports 66W fast wired charging, enabling users to recharge quickly and conveniently. In terms of design, the device is impressively slim, measuring just 6.88mm thick when opened and weighing a mere 195 grams, making it one of the lighter options in the foldable category. For enhanced security, it features a side-mounted fingerprint sensor for swift unlocking.
Pricing and Color Options
The Huawei Nova Flip S is rumored to start at approximately CNY 3,388 (roughly Rs. 41,900) for the 256GB model, with the 512GB variant priced at CNY 3,688 (around Rs. 45,600). The device comes in an appealing palette of colors, including New Green, Zero White, Sakura Pink, Star Black, Sky Blue, and Feather Sand Black.
With its stylish aesthetics, competitive pricing, and robust feature set, the Nova Flip S enhances Huawei’s standing in the rapidly evolving foldable smartphone market.
