Samsung has begun to roll out its first software update for the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2, the flagship wearable that was unveiled alongside new foldable devices in July. This latest update comes packed with the August 2026 security patch, addressing an impressive 56 security vulnerabilities present in the original operating system version that shipped with the device.
Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 is receiving the August 2026 security update
The update has initially been released for the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 model available in the United States, identified by the model number SM-L715U. The new firmware version, L715USQS1AZH4, is expected to progressively reach other regions in the coming days, ensuring that users globally benefit from enhanced security.
Prior to initiating the update, users should ensure their devices are connected to a reliable Wi-Fi network and have sufficient battery life or are connected to a charger. To check for the latest software update, navigate to the Galaxy Wearable app on your smartphone, select Watch settings, then Watch software update, and choose Download and install.
Fixes 56 security issues
The update extends beyond just the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2; reports indicate that Samsung has also rolled out updates for the LTE versions of the Galaxy Watch 9 series. Users of the 44mm variant should expect firmware version L355USQS1AZH4, while the 40mm variant will receive L345USQS1AZH4. The August 2026 security update from Samsung incorporates fixes for 56 identified security issues. Notably, 38 of these vulnerabilities—a mix of Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures (CVEs)—have been disclosed by Google, alongside 18 addressing Samsung-specific vulnerabilities (SVEs). Among these, eight fixes have been marked as critical-priority, with an additional 30 deemed high-priority. Samsung’s own fixes include two high-priority resolutions, 14 moderate-priority updates, and two with undisclosed priority levels.
