Samsung is reportedly working on a significant visual redesign for its One UI interface, with early leaks indicating that One UI 9.5 could introduce a more glass-like aesthetic. This prospective update is marked by shinier edges, enhanced transparency, and a greater perception of visual depth, enhancing user interaction on Samsung devices.

A Glossier Makeover for One UI

The leaked images suggest that Samsung is exploring a glass-inspired interface within select elements of One UI 9.5. Widgets, such as the Now Brief and Floating UI components, are reported to feature glossier edges. Additionally, several Samsung applications are said to exhibit a glass-like appearance around their peripheries, indicating a shift towards a more modern aesthetic.

Furthermore, some interface components may blur when layered over other elements. This could create a greater distinction between foreground controls and the backgrounds they occupy. Another notable change might involve subtler backdrop shading effects, aimed at enhancing visual depth between interface elements and their underlying contexts.

While the Phone app seems to remain largely unchanged, the leaked material indicates that the search icon has shifted to the floating navigation bar at the bottom of the screen. Positioned between the contact button and the three-dot menu, this adjustment illustrates Samsung’s focus on enhancing usability. Additionally, speculation surrounds the potential introduction of an App Lock feature in One UI 9.5, enabling users to secure selected applications through password protection or biometric authentication.

Samsung’s approach suggests a move towards more pronounced visual effects, indicating that the company seeks to innovate beyond merely refining its existing One UI framework.

What to Expect—and When

While the details of One UI 9.5 are exciting, it’s essential to note that this remains speculative territory. Samsung has not officially announced the update nor confirmed the specifics of the leaks. Galaxy device owners might need to exercise patience, as One UI 9.5 is unlikely to debut anytime soon. Following the rollout of One UI 9 Beta 5 for the Galaxy S26 series, reports suggest that the full version could become available around April or May 2027, and there is a chance that Samsung may not even launch a public beta this year.

At this stage, the leaked images provide insight into a potential future for One UI rather than a finalized product. Given that the software is in the early development phase, Samsung may alter or discard certain features prior to official release.

If these reports hold true, One UI 9.5 could be set to deliver a distinctly refreshed visual experience, with glass effects and pronounced depth becoming key elements of the user interface.
