Samsung is reportedly making significant advancements with its upcoming Galaxy S27 series, particularly in battery technology. Rumor has it that the Galaxy S27 Ultra could feature an upgraded battery, while the Galaxy S27 Pro is anticipated to come equipped with a robust 5,000mAh cell. Interestingly, recent information suggests that Samsung is also exploring silicon-carbon battery technology, enhancing its offerings in the mobile phone market.

According to a report from GalaxyClub, the Galaxy S27 Pro is likely to have a rated battery capacity of 5,087mAh, which may be marketed as 5,200mAh. Similarly, the S27 Ultra is rumored to house a 5,534mAh rated cell, potentially advertised as either 5,700mAh or 5,800mAh. This would mark a significant departure from Samsung’s previous limitation of 5,000mAh for the Ultra model, promising enhanced battery life for users.

A Cautious Approach to Innovation

The larger battery capacities are likely indicative of Samsung’s experimentation with silicon-carbon batteries. This innovative technology substitutes some graphite in lithium-ion anodes with silicon, which allows for higher energy storage within the same physical dimensions. Although GalaxyClub has not confirmed this development, the possibility aligns with global trends, where other Chinese manufacturers have successfully utilized similar technologies to produce flagship devices with batteries exceeding 7,000mAh. While Samsung’s rumored capacities are still lower, the company emphasizes safety and long-term battery health as top priorities, especially as it rolls out its first silicon-carbon batteries in foldable devices.

Camera Enhancements on the Horizon

In addition to batter performance, a separate report from WinFuture highlights potential camera upgrades for the Galaxy S27 Pro and Ultra. Both models could feature a new Sony IMX855 sensor for their ultrawide cameras, replacing the current 50MP Samsung ISOCELL JN3 sensor found in the Galaxy S26 Ultra. Furthermore, both phones may include a new 16MP Samsung front camera that is equipped with autofocus capabilities, with indications that the S27 Pro might also add optical image stabilization to its selfie camera. Meanwhile, the more basic Galaxy S27 and S27+ models are expected to maintain a 50MP main camera with optical image stabilization (OIS) and a 12MP ultrawide camera, although details regarding their zoom capabilities remain unclear.

It is crucial to note that these specifications have yet to be officially confirmed, and Samsung’s Galaxy Unpacked event is still several months away. Therefore, these details should be regarded as preliminary, as hardware specifications can change during the development process.
