Nothing has officially revealed the design of its upcoming budget phone, the Phone 4b, marking the inaugural entry in a new series intended to make the brand’s smartphone experience accessible to a broader audience. The company shared an official image displaying the device in a striking blue colorway, confirming that it will launch on July 7.
A Mashup of Two Existing Designs
The Phone 4b cleverly combines the unibody design of the Phone 4a Pro with the unique Glyph Bar light strip featured in the standard Phone 4a. According to Nothing, this design approach results in a more focused and youthful interpretation of its signature transparent aesthetic.
In contrast to the Phone 4a, which boasts a fully transparent back panel allowing visibility into its internal components, the Phone 4b resembles the Pro model more closely. Its internal features are only visible within the camera island, creating a seamless and polished appearance on the rest of the back, which remains solid. The company emphasizes that the device’s frame integrates smoothly with the rear housing and features a soft, skin-friendly finish designed for comfort during prolonged use.
Specs are Still Under Wraps
As of now, Nothing has not disclosed details regarding the processor, camera, or battery specifications for the Phone 4b. However, more information is likely to come to light in the days leading up to the July 7 launch. This announcement follows a teaser released last week, which hinted at the device’s name and offered an enticing peek at its design.
The Phone 4b follows shortly after Nothing decided to scrap plans for a CMF Phone 2 Pro successor due to rising costs associated with storage and RAM. Now marketed under the main Nothing brand rather than CMF’s, the Phone 4b looks poised to fill a void in the budget segment.
Currently, Nothing has not shared pricing or availability details, leaving it uncertain how the Phone 4b will be positioned against the company’s existing lineup. However, the ‘b’ in its name suggests that it might serve as a more affordable option beneath the Phone 4a duo, appealing to cost-conscious consumers.
