Ahead of WWDC 2026: Insights into iOS 27 Updates
As anticipation builds for Apple’s World Wide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2026, which is set to commence on June 8, new information has emerged from Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman regarding the forthcoming updates for iOS and iPadOS 27. Notably, a standout feature is the development of a standalone Siri app, designed to function similarly to AI chatbots such as ChatGPT and Claude.
Siri: A New Chapter in User Interaction
The upcoming Siri app aims to serve as a comprehensive platform for a myriad of tasks, boasting features such as past user conversations. Reports suggest that it will be ad-free with an option for auto-deleting chats, addressing concerns around user privacy which have been a focal point for Apple.
Gurman also highlighted that Apple’s commitment to user privacy has led to delays in the launch of this revamped Siri. The new AI assistant will reportedly leverage Apple’s Foundation Models, while Google’s Gemini will power the more demanding tasks, ensuring that user data is handled securely.
Enhanced Writing Features: “Write With Siri”
iOS 27 is set to introduce advanced AI writing tools that surpass the current capabilities of Apple Intelligence. A feature being tested is a “Write With Siri” toggle, located at the top of the keyboard, which promises to offer users grammar checks and writing suggestions.
Users will have the flexibility to approve or ignore typing changes and easily navigate through flagged text selections. Additionally, a “Help Me Write” option will be integrated when Siri is activated in any text field, allowing for a more interactive user experience.
Additional Features and Improvements
Beyond the improvements to Siri, iOS 27 is expected to roll out system-wide shortcuts using natural language, alongside new AI-generated wallpapers and advanced editing tools in the Photos app. The Shortcuts feature is also due for an overhaul, enabling users to create actions based on prompts.
As Apple continues to innovate and prioritize user experience, the updates coming with iOS 27 signify a major step forward in integrating AI seamlessly into the daily functions of its devices.
