A Major Update for Garmin Watches and Garmin Connect Users
The latest upgrade for some of the best Garmin watches is here. Garmin has recently introduced a suite of new features for the Garmin Venu X1, Garmin Fenix 8, Garmin Vivoactive 6, and the Garmin Forerunners 570 and 970 watches. This update not only enhances existing fitness features but also adds exciting new functionalities to enrich the user experience.
Introducing Garmin Fitness Coach
The most notable new feature is the Garmin Fitness Coach, a highly anticipated tool designed to help users create personalized training plans. This feature is accessible to all Garmin Connect users and is similar to the established running and cycling plans found in the Garmin Coach feature. However, Garmin Fitness Coach has a broader focus, integrating specific strength training and endurance workouts for general fitness. Users can find this feature in the Training & Planning section of the Garmin Connect app under Garmin Coach Plans and Improve Fitness, allowing you to tailor a fitness plan that suits your needs.
This innovative plan offers users the flexibility to select from options like Full Gym and Bodyweight, Bodyweight Only, or No Strength Workouts. Additionally, it accommodates cardiovascular exercises, allowing access to existing workout profiles, such as running and cycling, along with specific strength workouts derived from Garmin’s extensive library of exercises.
Enhancements in Gear Tracking
The gear-tracking feature has also seen a significant upgrade. Users can now track their gear directly on their wrist through any of the supported Garmin watches. Garmin Connect has introduced a comprehensive gear database to simplify gear entry, making it unnecessary for users to manually input item details.
The upgraded gear tracking allows users to group multiple items for a single activity, which supports an expanded range of gear types including running shoes, skis, bicycle components, wheelchairs, and much more. Furthermore, users can now take notes and add photos related to their gear, enhancing the overall experience and providing a more organized way to keep track of equipment.
Additional New Features
In addition to the core updates, Garmin has rolled out a new Course Planner glance that enables users to prepare for competitive events more effectively. This feature allows watch users to plan out race courses within Garmin Connect, detailing cut-off times, rest plans, checkpoints, and aid stations. This information can then be reviewed on a compatible smartwatch, facilitating race day strategies.
Moreover, sports enthusiasts will appreciate the new feature that allows them to follow their favorite sports teams and receive live sports scores directly on their wrists. While specifics on how this feature will look in practice remain to be seen, it hints at an even more connected and engaging experience for users.
The update is currently being rolled out, and early adopters have already reported access to Garmin Fitness Coach and the new gear tracking features. To enjoy these enhancements, ensure that both the Garmin Connect app is updated and your smartwatches are synced to receive the full suite of new functionalities.
