Samsung has begun the rollout of the January 2026 Android security update for its Galaxy Watch 6 series, following a similar update for the Galaxy Watch 5. This initial release is currently limited to South Korea, specifically targeting the cellular variant of the Galaxy Watch 6 with the model number SM-R935N. Additionally, the company has extended the same security enhancements to its Galaxy Tab S8 and Galaxy Tab S10 tablets.
Galaxy Watch 6’s January 2026 Update Fixes Multiple Bugs
The update, which weighs in at approximately 157.25MB, features the firmware number R935NKOS1CZA1. It addresses 55 different security vulnerabilities found in the previous operating system version. Currently, this update is being distributed over the air in a phased manner. For those eager to access the update now, you can manually check by navigating to the Galaxy Wearable app on your smartphone.
To perform a manual update, simply go to Watch Settings > Watch software update > Download and install. Users should keep an eye out for the update to become available for the non-cellular variant of the watch and across other regions in the coming days.
Samsung Expands Update to Galaxy Tab S8 & S10 Variants
In addition to the Galaxy Watch 6, Samsung is also rolling out the January 2026 security patch for the Galaxy Tab S8 and S10 series, as well as the Galaxy Tab S9 series and the Galaxy Tab S10 FE lineup. Similar to the Watch 6 update, this patch resolves 55 security issues identified in previous software versions.
This update is approximately 350MB and is currently accessible in South Korea for both the cellular and non-cellular versions of these tablets. Samsung is expected to expand the rollout to international markets shortly. Therefore, users are advised to stay tuned for further updates.
