We’re half a decade into the PlayStation 5 era, and the console is packed with must-play games across just about any genre, with many more to come. While we’re still diving into our backlogs, it’s exciting to contemplate what we could be playing on the PlayStation 6 when it launches, which is anticipated around 2027.
Sony’s next-generation console is likely to be an absolute powerhouse at its arrival, but there’s little value if we’re simply porting PlayStation 5 games onto it. Although transitioning some last-gen games to the new platform is inevitable, Sony has a history of launching something monumental to kick off a new generation.
Here are my predictions for potential PS6 launch titles, with the caveat that nothing is guaranteed. Since GTA 6 is set to release next year, I’m excluding that from the discussion.
Gran Turismo 8
Sony
Historically, racing games have been a popular choice to showcase the improved visual capabilities of new consoles. Past launches have included racing titles such as Project Gotham Racing 3 on the Xbox 360 and Driveclub for the PS4. However, Gran Turismo has yet to launch alongside a new PlayStation console. Given that Gran Turismo 7 debuted on the PS5 in 2022 and has continued to receive fresh content, the possibility of Gran Turismo 8 launching with the PS6 is intriguing. If history is any guide, Polyphony Digital, known for their meticulous attention to detail, will deliver a truly captivating experience.
Call of Duty and Battlefield

The last time both Call of Duty and Battlefield titles shared a launch lineup was back in 2013, a fact that is hard to believe considering their long-standing rivalry. This year, EA’s Battlefield 6 seems to have finally stepped out from its competitor’s substantial shadow, while Call of Duty remains a consistent annual release. With the varying releases in the series over the years, the likelihood of Battlefield 7 being among the PS6 launch titles cannot be ruled out, although it might not adhere to an annual launch schedule. One thing is certain: Call of Duty will be present regardless of the console’s release date.
A New Horizon Game

The Horizon series has captured the hearts of gamers since its debut on the PlayStation 4. A new mainline installment seems probable given that Forbidden West was released in 2022. There are mentions of a potential multiplayer title featuring Horizon’s captivating gameplay mechanics that could provide a Monster Hunter-esque experience. The anticipation for more content in the Horizon franchise remains high, especially considering its expansion into various media formats including an upcoming Hollywood movie.
Marvel’s Spider-Man 3 or Ratchet and Clank
Insomniac
Insomniac Games has been on an impressive streak, balancing their work with the Marvel franchise alongside the beloved Ratchet and Clank series. With new releases lined up, including the anticipated Wolverine game, it’s conceivable that we could see either Marvel’s Spider-Man 3 or a new Ratchet and Clank title launch during the PS6’s debut. Given Insomniac’s proficiency in leveraging PlayStation technology, they are likely to utilize the new hardware to enhance the gaming experience further.
Bloodborne Remake
Sony
Bloodborne, revered in gaming circles, first launched in 2015 as a PS4 exclusive. While FromSoftware has advanced to titles such as Elden Ring, the demand for more Bloodborne content, whether a remake or sequel, remains vocal among fans. Speculation that Bluepoint Games could be working on a remake could ignite considerable excitement upon PS6’s rollout. Given how stunning the Demon’s Souls Remake appeared on PS5, a Bloodborne Remake could certainly captivate audiences once more.
As the gaming landscape evolves and gamers eagerly await the next generation, the PS6 has the potential to house phenomenal titles that will undoubtedly shape the future of gaming. If history is any guide, we can expect a thrilling lineup that champions innovation and creativity.
