Samsung is expanding its One UI 8 Watch Beta rollout to more Galaxy wearables. The firm is now adding the Galaxy Watch 5 and Watch 5 Pro models to the mix. This lets users of the smartwatches try out the next OS version and all that it has to offer before the official release.
Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 and 5 Pro Get One UI 8 Watch Beta
As usual, the One UI 8 Watch beta for the Galaxy Watch 5 and Watch 5 Pro is rolling out in South Korea but might reach the US soon. Users can expect a notification regarding this update in the Samsung Members app. While the beta release is an exciting opportunity for users to explore the new features, it suggests that Samsung may be taking a methodical approach to issue the stable build. The tech giant has indicated plans for a stable One UI 8 Watch release for more Galaxy Watches before the end of the year, although progress appears to be slower than many anticipated.
Currently, the Galaxy Watch 7 and Ultra (2024) are the only models enjoying the stable One UI 8 Watch. Meanwhile, beta testing for the Galaxy Watch 6 series is ongoing, now in its fifth beta build.
The Beta Update is Live in Korea
Although Galaxy Watch 5 users may have wished for a stable build, the beta offers a chance to experience the new version’s features firsthand. The One UI 8 Watch upgrade introduces enhanced hand gestures and the ability to add more widgets in tiles. Users can benefit from features such as Bedtime Guidance, a Now Bar for real-time updates, an array of new watch faces, and a mindfulness feature designed to promote well-being.
Additional enhancements include a new charging animation, a grid layout for the app drawer, and updated app icons. Notifications for messages are now organized into grouped stacks, and users can clear them swiftly through a double pinch gesture.
