The Vivo X300 Series Unveiled: A Deep Dive into the New Photographer Kit
Yesterday marked a significant occasion in the smartphone and photography worlds, as Vivo unveiled its latest flagship, the X300 series. Our team was present at the event, engaging in hands-on experience with both the X300 Pro and the standard X300 models. While we took numerous photos during the event, there was a highlight we couldn’t capture initially—the long-range shots utilizing the innovative Vivo X300 Photographer Kit with its 2.35x telephoto extender lens. Today, we share our insights on this equipment and the impressive results it yields.
Hands-On Experience with the X300 Pro Photographer Kit
The design of the Vivo X300 Pro’s Photographer Kit shares similarities with its predecessor, the X200 Ultra, but with notable enhancements. The detachable lens remains essentially the same; however, the case design showcases improved ergonomics and tighter tolerances, which translates to increased stability when using the additional lens.
Manufactured by PGYTECH, the Photographer Kit comprises seven essential pieces. There is a version available for the regular Vivo X300, but we did not have the opportunity to inspect it personally. It’s important to note that the telephoto extender is not available in the X300’s camera application.
The X300 Pro kit includes a removable 62mm filter adapter ring, a Bluetooth-enabled grip that houses its own battery, a 2.35x Vivo Zeiss telephoto extender lens, and a robust neck strap. This thoughtful setup allows for versatility and mobility, which is essential for modern photographers.
Integral to the kit, the grip connects to the case via the USB-C port. This design allows for charging through the grip’s port, providing a 2300mAh battery, or charging the grip itself from the phone. Innovations like a Bluetooth connection facilitate seamless camera operation.
In terms of controls, the grip features a two-stage shutter button, a zoom lever, a control dial, and a dedicated video record button. Once enabled in the camera settings, the telephoto extender brings additional features, giving photographers options such as single-shot or burst-series captures, focus and exposure locking, and continuous autofocus modes.
Utilizing the Telephoto Extender
To utilize the telephoto extender, users need to attach the special adapter ring, which can remain on the camera without hindering regular operations. Activating the extender involves accessing a shortcut in the camera viewfinder, a departure from previous models that required switching to a different camera mode. This streamlined operation process results in a more user-friendly experience while capturing stunning imagery.
The teleconverter transforms the X300 Pro’s native 85mm lens to a remarkable 200mm, and it offers digital toggles for 400mm, 800mm, and 1,600mm views in the viewfinder. Despite these digital options, our photographic samples showcased below were all taken at the native 200mm setting, ensuring high optical quality.

For those interested in video content, we also captured footage while utilizing the extender, showcasing its capabilities in handheld conditions.
Pricing and Availability
In terms of affordability, the individual telephoto lens is priced at CNY 999 (€120, INR 12,400). The case and grip retail at CNY 699 (€85, INR 8,700), but a bundled package is available for CNY 1,499 (€182, INR 18,700), offering a savings of CNY 200. A complete Photographer Kit including the Vivo X300 Pro is available for CNY 8,299 (€1,000, INR 103,600). As of now, the launch of these products outside of China remains unknown, although signs suggest that an international release may occur soon.
Additionally, PGYTECH has introduced a lighter color variant of the grip and lens, providing users with more choices to suit their personal style.
