vivo Unveils V70 Series in New Delhi: First Impressions of the V70 Elite
Today, vivo launched the highly anticipated V70 series at an event in New Delhi, India. This new lineup features two smartphones: the standard V70 and the more premium V70 Elite. With the V70 serving as the successor to the previous year’s V60, the introduction of the V70 Elite marks the first “Elite” model in the V Series. While the distinctiveness of “Elite” compared to “Pro” is yet to be clarified by vivo, we had the opportunity to take an in-depth look at the V70 Elite. Here are our first impressions of this new device.
Unboxing Experience
The vivo V70 Elite comes in a retail box that is reminiscent of its predecessor, the V60. Inside, you will find a comprehensive package that includes a charging cable, a SIM ejector, a robust 90W power adapter, accompanying documentation, and a transparent protective case. However, unlike some of the V60 models, this case doesn’t match the phone’s color, which may be a letdown for some users.
Display Features
One of the standout features of the vivo V70 Elite is its 6.59″ AMOLED display, shielded by Schott Xensation Core glass and bordered by slim bezels. The display boasts a high 120Hz refresh rate with a resolution of 2,750×1,260 pixels, achieving a pixel density of 459 ppi and a peak brightness of 5,000 nits. It is capable of displaying 1.07 billion colors, promising a vibrant visual experience.
The display supports multiple refresh rates: 60Hz, 90Hz, and 120Hz, accessible through the Settings menu. Users can choose between Standard, Smart adaptation, and High modes, tailoring their experience from battery preservation to ultra-smooth visuals. Additionally, the V70 Elite supports HDR10, HDR10+, and HLG codecs, accompanied by Widevine L1 certification for high-definition video streaming in supported applications.
Camera Capabilities
The V70 Elite features a punch-hole front camera which is a 50MP “ZEISS Group Selfie Camera” equipped with an f/2.0 aperture and auto-focus. It offers a wide field of view (92°) and can record 4K videos at 60 FPS, although vivo has yet to disclose the specific sensor used.
On the back, the camera island features three cameras co-developed with ZEISS, including a 50MP primary sensor with optical image stabilization (OIS), a 50MP telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom and OIS, and an 8MP ultrawide camera lacking autofocus. The V70 Elite can capture 4K videos at various focal lengths and includes AI features such as the exclusive AI Holi Portrait for users in India.
Design and Build Quality
The V70 Elite’s design is both sleek and ergonomic. Its matte-finished rear panel resists fingerprints, and the device feels comfortable even in one-handed use. The Passion Red variant is made of glass, while the Authentic Black model features a glass-fiber cover. Interestingly, the Authentic Black variant is slightly lighter and slimmer than the other color options.
Performance and Software
Under the hood, the vivo V70 Elite is powered by the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 SoC, marking a shift from MediaTek processors utilized in previous models. The device includes up to 12GB of LPDDR5X RAM and storage options that reach 512GB with UFS 4.1 technology—a notable upgrade from the V60’s UFS 2.2.
The V70 Elite runs on Android 16 with OriginOS 6, promising up to four OS version upgrades and six years of security updates—which is quite commendable in today’s market. Pre-installed with several third-party apps, users have the freedom to uninstall them as needed.
Battery and Charging
Equipped with a substantial 6,500 mAh battery, the vivo V70 Elite supports 90W charging and multi-scenario bypass charging. While vivo has not specified the exact charging time, initial testing shows that it takes over an hour for a full charge.
Pricing and Availability
The vivo V70 Elite will be available in India starting February 26 in three configurations: 8GB/256GB priced at INR 51,999 ($570/€484), 12GB/256GB for INR 56,999 ($625/€530), and the top variant of 12GB/512GB for INR 61,999 ($680/€580).
In addition, the standard vivo V70 will also launch on the same date, available in Passion Red and Lemon Yellow hues, with memory options priced at INR 45,999 ($505/€430) for 8GB/256GB and INR 49,999 ($550/€465) for 12GB/256GB.
Conclusion
The vivo V70 Elite combines a stunning display, powerful hardware, and impressive camera capabilities, making it a strong contender in the smartphone market. Its premium design and various features cater to a wide range of users, promising both style and substance. For more detailed user feedback, you can visit the original source Here.
