The Samsung Galaxy Watch4 and Watch4 Classic Receive Significant Update
The Samsung Galaxy Watch4 and Watch4 Classic were initially promised four years of operating system (OS) updates when they launched back in August 2021. As of now, that specified period has technically concluded. However, in an unexpected move, Samsung is rolling out the One UI 8 Watch update, which is based on Wear OS 6, bringing new features and enhancements to users of these popular smartwatches.
Currently, this update is being deployed for Wi-Fi models of the Galaxy Watch4 and Watch4 Classic in South Korea. The firmware version associated with this update ends in “JYK4” and comes as a substantial download—over one gigabyte in size.

What to Expect with One UI 8 Watch
While users may be eager for the new features that One UI 8 Watch offers, it’s important to note that the rollout will occur gradually across different markets. Users with LTE models will likely experience an extended wait time compared to those with Wi-Fi versions, as the phased rollout process may lead to varying availability.
Interestingly, the One UI 8 Watch was initially introduced for the Galaxy Watch FE, a 2024 model based on the 40mm variant of the Galaxy Watch4, highlighting Samsung’s ongoing commitment to improving user experience across its smartwatch lineup.
This update is not just about aesthetic changes; it offers a range of performance improvements and feature enhancements that may significantly elevate the overall user experience.
