Samsung Galaxy Watch 6 users in the US are likely to witness a major shift in their smartwatch usage experience. That’s because the anticipated One UI 8 watch update has finally started to roll out in the region, shortly after the Korean region rollout weeks ago.
According to multiple reports, Galaxy Watch 6 users in the US, who are on T-Mobile and Verizon, are witnessing the latest firmware rollout bearing R935USQU1CYK2 and R945USQU1CYK2 versions. It applies to both models, the Galaxy Watch 6 and the Galaxy Watch 6 Classic.
The aforementioned users in the US are recommended to navigate to their smartwatch’s Watch Settings > Watch software update and hit Download and install.
One UI 8 Watch Major Enhancements and New Features
Coming to the One UI 8 Watch, it is a significant update for the three-year-old smartwatch and is based on Google’s latest Wear OS 6. This update introduces notable changes such as a refreshed user interface (UI), improvements to the app drawer, upgraded tiles, and multi-widget support. Additionally, users can expect several new features for the native Samsung Health app.
Notably, the update includes Bedtime Guidance, which encourages users to improve their sleep patterns by suggesting an optimal bedtime tailored to their lifestyles. Additionally, Galaxy Watch 6 users will benefit from a new Vascular Load feature that monitors this metric during sleep.
Furthermore, Samsung has introduced an Antioxidant index and Running Coach features that emphasize the holistic health of Galaxy Watch 6 users. The popular Now Bar feature from Galaxy phones has also made its way to the Galaxy Watch 6 series with this update, enhancing connectivity and usability.
Minor improvements are also part of this rollout, including new animations, double pinch gestures, and wrist shake actions that add to the overall user experience.
It is encouraging to see the Galaxy Watch 6 series join the ranks of the Galaxy Watch 7 and Galaxy Watch 8 series, both of which already run on the One UI 8 watch operating system. For reference, the Galaxy Watch 7 series received the update back in July.
With the US rollout beginning this week and the earlier Korean rollout, it is likely that more regions will experience the One UI 8 Watch on their Galaxy Watch 6 and Watch 6 Classic models in the coming days or weeks.
