    Great For Seniors!
Like many “seasoned citizens” my wife and I have trouble hearing each other, especially between rooms. I had been looking for something to solve this problem off & on for quite some time. A few weeks ago, my wife fainted in another room and I didn’t hear her cries for help at first. This caused me to act to buy something. These Retevis RTY-20’s are a great choice and exactly what we need. They arrived very promptly. One of the 3 units accepted a charge normally, but did not work. I messaged the seller via Amazon and got an immediate reply. Retevis sent me a replacement within 48 hours. The agent, Angela, was extremely responsive. As well, she answered several questions and made helpful suggestions. I could not have asked for better customer service! The devices are also excellent; clear, audible sound with zero static or interference. A very useful feature is the keyboard ‘lock’ feature, since it is fairly easy to inadvertently change the channel by contact with anything you happen to push your chest against. I haven’t yet enough experience to assess battery life, but they do last all day after I charge them all night. I am a bit concerned as to whether leaving them charge all night – as opposed to leaving them plugged in just long enough to charge, then unplugging them – could decrease battery life. The size and weight make these walkie-talkies very convenient and unobtrusive. I may try to fashion some lightweight cushion, case or bumpers, as they tend to swing on the lanyard and I fear I may damage them. I will add more to this review with more experience. I am very happy and impressed so far.25 months later: Still working perfectly – all three of them!29 months later – after heavy use: spoken message says “replace battery”. I opened it up, easily by unscrewing small Philips head screw, and found the battery is soldered in place. Since two of ours are still working, I will wait and replace them with new ones rather than try to find and solder in a new battery. It may be worth noting that I leave them on charge overnight while turned ‘on’. They beep when you power them on or off and this would awaken my wife. Maybe battery lifetime would be extended with shorter charging, but for me, that wasn’t practicable.

    Simple. Excellent. Lightweight. Practical.
These personal radios work great! We use them anywhere we may be separated; in a mall, riding our bikes, walking, at a casino, at the grocery store, etc. They are easier to carry than our cells. They slip over our necks and hide under our shirt. They’re so light you forget they’re there. They’re silent until you use them. No radio squelch. No interference. Sound is loud enough for a busy street or quiet enough for a private conversation. Easy, very simple controls. I can turn mine off while under my shirt without even looking or seeing the device because the buttons protrude just enough to blindly navigate them. The battery seems to last forever. We’ve used them in situations where we are on the far opposite sides of a Walmart Supermarket, opposite ends of a Casino floor, using the restroom, 2 blocks separated on a street, working in the garage, etc. They work at quite a far distance. We are completely satisfied for what we use them for.Customer service is quick and top notch! We had a tiny wire extruding from an earphone. The earphone worked fine but it was defective. Customer service immediately sent a new set of three and let us keep the first set! We were shocked how easy it was to communicate with them. Excellent! We are going to buy more for our daughter. She has a large property, and they can use them to easily communicate without having to carry heavy radios. Very simple. Simple enough for a 3 year old. Literally.

has only 16 channels allow extra money for more
Why I ordered this is to have 24/7 communication for my mom’s safety. I ordered these because it said it had “50 CTCSS and 208 DCS channels.” Which means it should come with that capability. BUT it does NOT say you have to purchase a separate cable to download the channels from the free software (you download from their site) onto the phones. And I cannot find any manual that explains HOW you use the software once you download it, and buy the cable. As for the phones themselves, they are plenty loud enough that I can hear mine from another room, It is easy enough for mom to use if she holds down the center button to talk. Phones and walkie talkies you hold, tend to get stuck in a pocket you landed on. Not helpful. These are totally accessible at all times. For a safety phone, it holds a great charge… 2 or 3 days worth so far. Probably more but I want to be on the safe side. But if you want to sleep, you do not want a dozen people waking you up all night or at nap time. Only the one you want to take care of. So allow an extra $11 +for the cord to upload extra channels with, and you will be fine.

    Senior monitors by Retevis.
We received these monitors yesterday. They were turned on today. My husband and I each are wearing a monitor. When he’s outside in the yard we can hear each other no matter where I am in the house. So far they are working beautifully. They were easy to turn on and operate.

Very Good, but some static issues
A couple weeks ago, my wife had a serious problem with dizziness and nausea when she tried to get up in the morning. She called out for help but I was still asleep in my own room and it took a long time for me to hear her and respond. We decided we needed something that would let us communicate in any similar emergency. This RT 20 does that job very well and we each wear one all day. We plug the charger in at night and keep the unit on the bedside table. This makes us feel much more secure around the house. The only downside is that it does not work well when I go for a walk around the block, never more tha two tenths of a mile. There is not enough power for my wife to reach me or for me to call her. At closer distances, and when no houses are in the way [all are wood frame stucco houses] we can get connected but the static is very strong and understanding is difficult. But for the primary purpose of staying safe in daily activies in and around the house, they are doing fine. Glad we bought them.

  9. Cliente de Amazon

Me gustó que es ligero pero el botón de bloqueo no funciona en ninguno de los 3 no bloquea las teclas. Tiene buena recepción. Y se oye muy clara la voz.
