    Unable to install Ubunut Linux.
The laptop was a great price for the horsepower. However, I was unable to get Ubuntu 22.04 to boot up on the laptop. I run Ubuntu Linux on all my computers and rarely have an issue installing on a new computer. This laptop was the exception. I attempted to install Ubuntu 22.04. The installation went smoothly, but the system would not boot up. It kept saying it could not find the file-system. I then attempted to install 24.04. Again, the installation went smoothly, but the system would not boot up. I then attempted to install 20.04. The installation went smoothly and this time the system did boot up. However, when I performed the release upgrade to go from 20.04 to 22.04, the upgrade went smoothly but the system would no longer boot up. I must have tried some 20 installations attempting different BIOS and kernel configurations before finally giving up and returning the laptop. I ended up buying a different HP laptop from Sam’s Club with which I had no problems at all installing and booting Ubuntu 22.04.If you are going to stick with the stock Microsoft Windows installation, then this laptop is probably a great buy for you. If you intend to install a Linux installation instead, then you should avoid this laptop.

You must purchase Microsoft 365, in addition to this computer, after 12 Months
Maybe everyone knows this but me. You only get Microsoft 365 as a 12 month trial. After that, this machine has no ability to even write and save words. If you want to continue to use it after 12 months you’ll have to pay Microsoft $7/month forever or lose Microsoft 365.The seller and Microsoft will tell you the solution is to go to a limited capability, web version of Microsoft software, but if you have to do that you’re better off with a cheap, faster Chromebook not loaded down with preinstalled, subscription only software. You can also fix this computer by installing free software to make it work, like Open Office but then you’ll need java, blah, blah. Otherwise, expect to pay. This computer comes with no software that you own except the windows 11 framework. If you give in, and settle for the free, limited capability, web based version of Office, you’ll need an internet connection and it’s performance will depend on your internet speed, and it’s not secure if you’re working from a cafe, etc. Again, a Chromebook would do this better, for half the price. My solution was to install Open Office and Java and then uninstall all the Microsoft, subscription only apps, but it took me half a day to do all that. If I had to do it again I would shop for a laptop that actually included Microsoft office or 365, or just get a Chromebook.

    Trash product/trash support
Uodate-After finally contacting a competent HP rep, we discovered that Amazon allows sellers disguised as big companies like HP. Buyer beware, this product shows to be sold from an official HP account, but turns out it is not. At this moment it is a company called FuelCell. I discovered it upon researching the item with HP. While shopping or viewing the item before purchasing it shows as a new product direct from HP through their Amazon platform, after ordering it shows as FuelCell. Turns out this is a refurbished/ modified laptop. I searched the serial number on the HP site and it shows the item is out of warranty and had been modified incorrectly. The laptop on Amazon shows as a 16gb hard-drive, it is actually a 4gb modified poorly. This is why multiple attempts to reset to factory setting failed, making this laptop essentially a crappy boat anchor. At this point Amazon is refunding me outside the 30 day return as I have sufficient evidence showing the blatant false advertisement as bait and switch they are allowing in their platform. Unfortunately I am still waiting on the reimbursement of the additional 2 year warranty, which only works after 1 year of ownership. Be careful buying online even through a popular company like Amazon. Also if you are in the same boat as me, Amazon will try to charge you a restocking/return fee. Kindly remind them that they are liable legally for their shady sellers posing as authentic dealers.Original post-HP is garbage overall. My laptop stopped working after 6 months. I bought the additional 2 year warranty, which is useless if your laptop breaks under the manufacturer warranty. So I’m stuck dealing with HP. Good luck getting support. The phone number that leads you in an endless loop. The chat which is also a endless loop. I have filed a BBB complaint, in which I am hoping to be fully reimbursed so I can purchase a better product with actual support. Just look up HP customer service reviews and experiences for yourself.

    Excellent product love it
I love this laptop. It was super easy to set up. It has everything I wanted and was in my price range. Good for the price.

Good value computer for basic needs.
I bought this PC to give slide presentations and a little business record keeping. Since it’s a business use machine, I back it up regularly. For the money it works well for my basic needs. Too slow for gaming, but is fine for general streaming. Display is OK, nothing special.

    Great Laptop!!!! For the Price!
I have had this laptop for about 2 months and it has been great! This was a great replacement laptop for my old 2017 HP Flyer Red Laptop that was terribly slow running at 4GB of ram! I wanted another red laptop and this one was perfect!!! I got the 16GB of ram this time around and it’s super fast and completes all my needs as a graduate student! I can run multiple task at the same time with no lagging or freezing. I didn’t like the keyboard but no worries I found a keyboard skin off amazon and that took care of that issue for me.

Easy start up & simple to use.
I don’t know much about computers, so I did alot of research. I found this HP is perfect for me & my small business. Easy start up & simple to use. Fast processing. Good storage. And I love the uncommon red color. My friend barely knows how to access the internet, but she happy with her new HP, as well.
