10 reviews for Cool Your Setup: 8.8″ PC Temp Display for ARGB Cases!

  1. Laurie

fantastic display quality with high resolution
I recently picked up the 8.8 Inch Small Touchscreen Monitor for my Raspberry Pi and overall, I’m quite satisfied. The display quality is fantastic, with crystal clear visuals at a high resolution of 1920 × 480. It’s perfect for my PC temperature and sensor panel display needs. The touch screen is a convenient feature, though I did encounter some occasional issues with responsiveness, which was a bit frustrating. The included HDMI and USB cables made setup a breeze, and it connected seamlessly with my Windows setup. However, I find the brightness control a bit lacking, as it could be more intuitive. The build quality seems solid, but given some reviews about durability, I’m hoping it holds up over time. Despite some minor quirks, it’s been a great addition to my ARGB computer case setup and fits perfectly on my desk.

    Great for graphs
I purchased this to have a live view of some graphs I have running, and it is absolutely fantastic for that. The size is great for displaying bits of information, and it is very easy to connect to with the additional cable that comes in the box. Unfortunately, there is no touchscreen, but that was expected. It would be a great feature to add to a future model of this device. Overall, it looks and feels great for the price, and I may end up getting multiple for future projects.

    Decent Screen, Misleading Imagery
The screen itself is sharp and works well, though the images depicting the mounting holes are misleading. In the gallery, it shows and states that a Raspberry Pi can be mounted to the rear, assumedly without additional effort. Then, in the description, it shows a VESA 75/50 plate on the back of the unit. Neither of these depictions is completely accurate. The actual hole spacing is 75×50. Sure, two of the screw holes will [almost] fit an RPi’s spacing, but the holes in the rear of the display are M4 size , which are much too large for a Raspberry Pi’s mounting holes. These aren’t huge issues by any means, but annoying for people trying to source turn-key components. I don’t mind drafting mounts, but the seller/manufacturer really should take care to depict the product accurately. The last issue is brightness control. Rather than it using a simple potentiometer or the like, it uses hard coded brightness levels that need to be adjusted from the rear of the display with a paperclip. There’s no label of what the hole is, so if you’ve thrown away the packaging like I did, because “iT’s JuSt A dIsPlaY”, note that if you want to adjust brightness, it needs to be done prior to mounting. From a usability standpoint, it should have at least been on the same face as the connectivity ports, but it’s not.

Busted at 66 days of use
Worked great until it didn’t. It was a bit annoying to set up and I had to buy a few adapters since the included cable wasn’t long enough for my set up, but otherwise happy with the funtionality and quality. However, 6 days after the return window, this screen is unusable. There’s a weird burn-in of the exact image that was displayed at 9:38 AM on Sep 30 (it’s not actually burn-in, since the “burned in” image is specific to one time–it’s clearly something with the display adapter, not the screen itself). The screen is still connected to my PC and still responds, even if the image burn-in wasn’t a problem, the color is off, it’s blurry, and the motion is all stuttered. I’ve unplugged and plugged. Restarted the PC. Reinstalled drivers. No apparent solution.

    Great! Exactly What I Needed!
I honestly didn’t expect to love this little monitor as much as I do. I originally bought it just to monitor time while I work, but it quickly became one of my favorite little gadgets on my desk. The glossy screen looks sharp and modern, and the built-in bracket makes it easy to place wherever I want. It doesn’t take up much space at all, which is perfect for my already cluttered setup. It is also a touch screen! I’ve been using it to show system temperature, RAM usage, CPU load, even my Spotify now-playing. Sometimes I just throw a little animated weather widget on it to brighten up my desk. Setup was super easy, just plug and play with a single HDMI cable and USB for power. No extra drivers, no fuss.Highly recommended! I kind of want to buy another one just to play around with different layouts!

the display itself looks very good, and the touchscreen panel works as it should so far, but some points deducted due to the requirement to DIY a mount. photos appear to show a micro USB port and other reviews have noted it being micro USB, the model i received was USB-C. it would have been nice if the included cables were right angled or if the ports were on the back, having cables stick straight out of the side is a bit awkward and space consuming.the biggest gripe is the lack of a stand and non-standard mounting points. it may be okay for a raspberry pie to be directly mounted, but for use with a PC there is virtually nothing out there to use as a stand, the M4 threaded mounting holes are 75mm x 50mm and i’ve been unable to find anything anywhere that would work, just having a built in kickstand would have been a massive improvement.thankfully there is room inside the case free of components, so a few holes drilled, a cheap camera monitor mounting plate added and a magic arm with clamp attached makes positioning the screen in a usable location easy. it really should not require that much effort and modification though.

This cant even be a mistake since only one size is listed! Advertised as 11.26 inches. Judge for yourself!!! Its barely 8 inches. And for this price!!!!! Also No cables in the box. Just a 8 inch monitor with no touch.

  9. Nathan

Amazing screen perfect for preformence monitoring. Does have a bit of a start draw that may cause issues with weaker power sources.

Monitor failed after day 50. picture does not show on the monitor anymore. a number of different cables and adapters used to unsure that wasn’t the issue and it still showed incorrectly. Money well wasted.
