Pebble Round 2: A Comeback in Smartwatch Innovation
Core Devices has announced the arrival of the much-anticipated Pebble Round 2, a smartwatch that signifies a significant return to form for the Pebble brand. Following a dramatic resurgence in 2024, Pebble is poised to reclaim its stake in the smartwatch market with this newly updated device.
Improved Features and Design
Entering the scene a decade after the less-than-stellar Pebble Time Round, the Pebble Round 2 aims to rectify the many shortcomings of its predecessor. It showcases a color e-paper display with an expansive edge-to-edge 1.3-inch screen, a substantial upgrade from the original model’s bulky bezel.
One of the standout features is the remarkably improved battery life, which is rated for up to seven days per charge. This is a game-changer compared to the Pebble Time Round, which could only last a couple of days. Notably, Pebble has achieved this enhancement without significantly increasing the watch’s thickness; the new model measures a sleek 8.1mm, only slightly thicker than its predecessor.
Affordability and Functionality
In an effort to make the smartwatch accessible, Pebble Round 2 is priced at $199, compared to the $249 price tag of the Pebble Time Round. It integrates cutting-edge technology that tracks steps and sleep, equipped with an accelerometer and a magnetometer. Additionally, the device boasts a touchscreen functionality, giving users an option to navigate the interface efficiently.

Water Resistance and Color Options
Water resistance is also a noteworthy feature of the Pebble Round 2, although the exact level of protection is listed as a “30m target,” which remains somewhat ambiguous. Users can choose from a variety of color options for the stainless steel frame, including matte black, brushed silver, and polished rose gold. Importantly, the Pebble Round 2 supports both iOS and Android platforms, making it a versatile option for a broader audience.
Building a Stronger Ecosystem
The Pebble Round 2 joins a growing lineup of wearable technology from Pebble, including the Pebble Time 2, which features another large e-paper display, and the innovative Pebble Index 01, a smart ring designed to record short voice notes. This expansion of products signals that the open-source Pebble platform is transitioning from a survival mode to one of growth, bolstered by a passionate fanbase that has held onto the brand for over a decade.
Open-source capabilities remain central to Core Devices’ mission, now featuring around 15,000 apps and numerous watch faces that will be available on the Pebble Round 2. The watch is now available for pre-order and is expected to ship in May 2026.
