The Luna Glass AR glasses are a groundbreaking innovation specifically designed for visually impaired users. These glasses provide enhanced visibility in low-light conditions, offering an improved view of the surroundings at night. The company proudly claims that they are the world’s first night vision glasses targeted towards this demographic.
Luna Glass Provides an Enhanced Image of the Surroundings at Night
Featuring advanced technology, the Luna Glass AR glasses enhance brightness and contrast in real time, utilizing a built-in camera. By employing augmented reality techniques, these glasses project enhanced images directly in front of the wearer’s eyes through half mirrors. This unique setup allows users with limited night vision to perceive both the real-world environment and an enhanced overlay simultaneously.
Importantly, the effectiveness of the glasses may vary from person to person. According to the company’s CEO, individuals with as little as 10% vision remaining can benefit significantly from this technology, making it possible for visually impaired individuals to navigate their environments more safely and independently during nighttime.
There’s a Waitlist
The Luna Glass utilize LentinAR’s PinTILT optical module, which is also found in products from Dynabook and NTT. With a battery life of approximately 1 to 1.5 hours, users can extend the glasses’ runtime by connecting them to a USB-C power bank, providing more flexibility for extended outings. Due to exceptionally high interest during the initial production phase, the company is setting up a waitlist for the next version of the glasses, which is anticipated to be even more advanced.
Initially, the company plans to produce a limited run of only 500 units for international distribution. The pricing for Luna Glass is projected to range from €3,500 (~$4,010) to €5,000 (~$5,730), contingent on the chosen features and configurations. Potential buyers can join the waitlist by making a nominal reservation fee of €50 (~$58).
