Intel Unveils Panther Lake Mobile Processors at CES 2026
Intel launched its highly anticipated Panther Lake mobile processors today at CES 2026, introducing the Intel Core Ultra Series 3. These new chips are set to begin shipping in laptops within the week.
Strategic Vision for Semiconductor Leadership
Jim Johnson, Intel’s Senior VP and General Manager for the Client Computing Group, emphasized during the company’s CES press conference that Intel 18A is central to the firm’s goal of reestablishing its leadership position in the semiconductor industry. The rearchitecting of the system on a chip (SoC) promises improvements in power efficiency, performance, and overall power consumption.
Enhanced Graphics with Intel Arc B390
A focal point of excitement for Intel is the new integrated GPU within the Intel Core Ultra Series 3. The 12 Xe3 core GPU, branded as the Intel Arc B390, represents a significant leap forward.
Notably, this GPU is the first integrated unit to support multiframe generation through Intel XeSS 3 technology. Intel has claimed that this will enable high-performance gaming on demanding titles like Battlefield 6, boasting a staggering 147 fps at 1080p on the highest graphics settings.
Developing a New Gaming Platform
Intel also shared plans for a comprehensive PC gaming handheld platform designed around the Intel Core Ultra Series 3. Prominent partners, including MSI and Acer, will be able to utilize this framework to develop their handheld products. This initiative poses a significant challenge to AMD’s dominance in the handheld market, particularly with its Ryzen Z-series chips. Although specific details are still scarce, further announcements are expected in the coming weeks and months.
