AIDOL: Russia’s First AI-Powered Humanoid Robot
AIDOL, a groundbreaking humanoid robot, made its debut in Moscow this week, potentially marking a significant milestone in Russia’s robotics development. However, the presentation was not without its challenges, as AIDOL’s first appearance was characterized by a series of missteps and an unfortunate fall.
A Rocky Start

Company’s Response and Future Plans
Despite the mishap, AIDOL’s creators, a company sharing the same name, remained optimistic about the robot’s future. CEO Vladimir Vitukhin emphasized that the robot is still in a “learning stage,” stating, “I hope this mistake will turn into an experience.” This insight reflects a genuine commitment to development, underscoring the iterative nature of technological innovation.
AIDOL’s Features and Capabilities
According to the company’s website, AIDOL is designed with advanced features that set it apart from many competitors. It boasts sophisticated dialogue generation, emotion recognition, and expressive facial capabilities enabled by 19 servo motors, which allow it to display at least 12 basic emotions and hundreds of micro-expressions. While the humanoid robot’s face presents a well-developed aspect, its performance on two legs leaves much to be desired.
This robot operates fully offline with on-device voice processing and can autonomously function for up to six hours on a 48-volt battery. When adequately calibrated, AIDOL is said to be capable of walking at speeds of up to 3.7 mph (6 kph), a respectable pace for a newly debuted humanoid.

AIDOL is envisioned for applications in various sectors, including manufacturing, logistics, banking, airports, and public spaces. However, given the initial performance issues, it might be prudent for future deployments to consider environments where the robot can operate safely—preferably with a chair nearby.
