This groundbreaking advancement promises higher capacity, enhanced safety, and longevity, all while maintaining an impressively thin form factor.
The Next-Gen Battery Tech for Smart Rings Brings Revolutionary Design and Improved Performance
Historically, smart rings—like the Samsung Galaxy Ring and the Oura Ring—have relied heavily on traditional lithium-polymer (LiPo) batteries. However, Grepow’s new silicon-anode battery technology provides a significant boost in battery density without increasing the size of the device. This innovation could deliver up to 30% more battery capacity within a similar or even smaller volume, marking a significant advancement for compact wearables.
One of the pivotal aspects of this development is Grepow’s shift from the conventional “winding” production method to a novel E-stacking process. In this innovative method, layers of material are precisely stacked and heat-formed into an arc shape, resulting in a more uniform internal structure that alleviates mechanical stress and enhances battery efficiency.
Grepow Claims the New Tech is Smarter, Efficient, and Reliable
According to Grepow, the new E-stacking process enables its micro-batteries to achieve around 500 charging cycles, significantly surpassing the typical lifespan of 200-300 charging cycles offered by traditional LiPo cells. This longevity is just one highlight of the new technology, which also boasts improved safety and versatility. The company reports that its stacked silicon-anode cells can be as thin as 1mm and only 4.1mm wide, demonstrating an 80% improvement in safety performance compared to standard ring batteries.
