“Samsung has a long history in wireless communication, and we continue to innovate with global partners,” stated Won-Joon Choi, President, COO, and Head of R&D at Samsung’s Mobile eXperience Business. He added, “As satellite connectivity becomes essential, we want Galaxy users to have reliable communication when it matters most.”

Collaborations to Expand Connectivity

To make satellite connectivity accessible, Samsung has forged alliances with telecom operators across key regions, including North America, Europe, and Japan. In the United States, Verizon is set to provide emergency SOS (eSOS) and text services for all Galaxy flagship models starting from the S25 series. Additionally, AT&T will support satellite communication, while T-Mobile will offer T911 text and data services on select Galaxy A and flagship models released after the Galaxy S21.

In Europe, Virgin Media O2 will facilitate satellite services on specific Galaxy devices, with Vodafone actively expanding the feature as well. Furthermore, Samsung plans to initiate joint trials with MasOrange in Spain by March, reflecting its dedication to enhancing safety across the continent.

Japan has been an early adopter of this technology. Samsung has collaborated with KDDI to deliver text, data, and critical alerts via the Earthquake and Tsunami Warning System (ETWS) to both Galaxy A series devices and flagship models from the S22 onward. Additionally, partnerships with SoftBank, Docomo, and Rakuten Mobile aim to broaden the availability of satellite communication across more Galaxy smartphones.

A Commitment to Safety and Innovation

With the Galaxy S26 series, Samsung not only reinforces its reputation for innovation but also emphasizes its dedication to providing safer and more connected experiences for users. The introduction of satellite communication is a significant advancement, allowing individuals to maintain contact even in remote and challenging environments.
