Clicks Technology Introduces New Devices Ahead of CES
Clicks Technology, a notable player in the smartphone accessory market, is preparing to unveil two innovative products just ahead of the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas next week. Known for their commitment to enhancing smartphone usability through physical keyboards, the company’s latest offerings include a slide-out keyboard priced at $79 and their first smartphone, the Communicator, designed specifically for those who prefer tactile typing experiences.
A Modern Take on the Classic BlackBerry
The Communicator, retailing for $499, features a design reminiscent of classic BlackBerry devices—a nostalgic touch that may appeal to long-time fans of physical keyboards. With its purpose-built construction, Clicks aims to cater to individuals who actively use two devices: one for work and another for personal communications.
Clicks anticipates that their target market will comprise professionals engaged in extensive messaging, emailing, or document work—tasks where a physical keyboard proves advantageous. Unlike typical smartphones, the Communicator intentionally omits access to addictive social media apps and gaming, promoting a more productivity-focused user experience.
The Communicator provides access to essential messaging and productivity apps, including Gmail, Telegram, WhatsApp, and Slack, thanks to a partnership with Niagara Launcher. This collaboration ensures users can stay productive without being distracted by social media notifications.
Innovative Features Enhance Communication
The standout feature of the Communicator is its Signal Light, a customizable notification system that uses different colors and light patterns to alert users to incoming messages. For instance, messages from important contacts can be set to glow purple, while alerts from WhatsApp may shine green, allowing for immediate recognition.
Additionally, users can utilize the Prompt Key for voice dictation or quick note-taking. Although Clicks has hinted at potential AI integration for this feature in the future, it is not yet available.
Premium Typing Experience and Additional Features
Maintaining their commitment to a quality typing experience, the Communicator boasts a tactile, touch-sensitive keyboard crafted for rapid interaction. Users benefit from the ability to scroll through messages and lists without relying solely on the touchscreen.
Rounding out its user-friendly features, the device accommodates a 3.5mm headphone jack, a physical SIM card tray alongside eSIM support, and expandable microSD storage capable of holding up to 2TB. A tactile switch enables users to toggle airplane mode on and off, enhancing convenience during travel.
The back cover is easily detachable, allowing users to customize their device’s appearance by swapping out for colors like Smoke, Clover (dark green), and Onyx.
Pre-Order Details and Full Specifications
For those interested, early bird customers can secure the Communicator for $399 by placing a $199 deposit before February 27. Customers who pay the full early bird price up front will also receive two additional back covers. The devices are anticipated to ship later this year.
The full tech specifications for the Communicator include:

Clicks CEO Adrian Li stated, “That response validated something we strongly believed: there’s growing demand for purpose-built products that help people communicate with confidence and take action. Clicks Communicator is a natural evolution of that idea.”
Alongside the smartphone, Clicks is also introducing a slide-out keyboard, specifically designed for enhanced typing without compromising convenience when using mobile or smart devices.
The Slide-Out Power Keyboard
The Power Keyboard, priced at $79 for early bird customers, can attach to smartphones, tablets, or even smart TVs, providing a solution for easier typing without the hassle of on-screen keyboards. It operates with a built-in 2,150 mAh battery and connects through MagSafe or Qi2 magnetic connections, adapting seamlessly to various device sizes and orientations.
In summary, Clicks Technology is poised to capture the attention of tech enthusiasts and productivity-focused individuals with these new offerings. The Communicator and Power Keyboard promise to enhance the mobile experience, balancing the charm of traditional typing mechanics with modern digital functionality.
