Google’s Androidify app boasts a rich history, captivating Android enthusiasts since its initial launch. Although the application was discontinued in 2020, it has made a triumphant return this month, now enhanced with artificial intelligence features. Users can now craft their own personalized Android Bots using photos and text prompts, which can be utilized as wallpapers, avatars, and more. Setting up personalized Android Bot watch faces is about to get easier as Androidify app gets Wear OS support
According to a report from Android Authority, the recently released version 1.2.1 of the Androidify app includes native support for Wear OS. Notably, the updated app contains a hidden button on the “Customize and Export” page. This button, adorned with a smartwatch icon, when tapped, reveals an option to install the Androidify app directly on the connected smartwatch.
The installation process appears seamless on devices like the Galaxy Watch 8 Classic. However, users attempting to install on the OnePlus Watch 2R experienced difficulties, showcasing the variability in compatibility with different models. The Galaxy Watch 8 Classic operates on the latest Wear OS 6, which is essential for the app’s functionalities. As highlighted by tech reporter Mishaal Rahman, the necessity for Wear OS 6 stems from its use of the new Watch Face Push API, enabling direct watch face settings from the app.
Once installed on your Wear OS smartwatch, the button initially labeled “Install Androidify” transforms into “Send to watch.” Tapping this new button allows users to explore an array of watch face designs, some of which are illustrated at the conclusion of this article. After selecting your preferred design, the app processes the request and configures the watch face on the paired device. Finally, users will be prompted to grant permission for the app to “change the active watch face.”
There’s no rollout timeline in sight
Despite the promising new features for fans of personalized watch faces, the enhanced functionality is not yet operational for most users. Moreover, there is currently no timeline available for when Google will broadly roll out Wear OS support for the Androidify app. As enthusiasts await this exciting update, it is essential to remain hopeful that Google prioritizes bringing this feature to the masses soon.
