Amazon Launches Amazon Bazaar: A Low-Cost Shopping Destination
On Friday, Amazon announced the launch of Amazon Bazaar, a new shopping destination tailored for low-cost needs in Asia, Africa, and Latin America. Unlike its main shopping app, Amazon Bazaar will operate as a standalone app, focusing on budget-friendly items.
Affordable Pricing Strategy
According to Amazon, most products on Bazaar are priced under $10, with some available for as low as $2. This initiative aims to attract consumers seeking affordability in various markets.
Availability and Market Reach
The app is currently available on Android and iOS devices in several countries, including Hong Kong, the Philippines, Taiwan, Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain, Oman, Peru, Ecuador, Argentina, Costa Rica, the Dominican Republic, Jamaica, and Nigeria.
Amazon has indicated that additional markets will be added in the months ahead, enhancing its global reach.
Relation to Amazon Haul
Amazon Bazaar has notable overlaps with Amazon Haul, which was launched last November to compete against popular low-cost competitors like Shein and Temu. While Haul operates as part of Amazon’s main website and app, it will continue to be available in existing markets such as the U.S., UK, Germany, and several others.
Interestingly, in other regions, Amazon has branded the same inventory as Bazaar, showing an adaptability to local language and cultural preferences, despite the potential confusion from having two names for similar offerings.

Competitive Landscape
The introduction of the standalone shopping app reflects Amazon’s strategy to enhance its competitiveness against low-cost platforms like Temu, Shein, and TikTok Shop. These competitors have gained significant traction, especially among younger users with limited disposable income.
Diverse Product Range and User Experience
The Bazaar app promises “hundreds of thousands” of affordable products across categories such as fashion, home goods, and lifestyle items. Users can expect familiar Amazon features, including customer reviews and star ratings for informed purchasing decisions.
Customers can utilize their existing Amazon credentials to shop and complete purchases. Accepted payment methods include Visa, Mastercard, and American Express. Additionally, orders need to reach a local minimum purchase amount for free shipping, while smaller orders incur a standard delivery fee.
Logistics and Customer Support
Amazon Bazaar ensures efficient logistics with shipments usually taking around two weeks or less. The platform also offers free returns within 15 days of receipt, alongside multilingual customer support in six languages: English, Spanish, French, Portuguese, German, and Traditional Chinese.
Engagement and Promotions
To boost user engagement, the app features interactive elements like social lucky draws and promotions, trends popularized by Chinese shopping apps. New customers can also benefit from a 50% discount on their first delivery, encouraging exploration of the new platform.
