GITEX Global 2025: A Tech Enthusiast’s Paradise
Pop culture has Comic-Con, while technology enthusiasts have GITEX – and the upcoming GITEX Global 2025 is set to be the biggest yet. The event boasts 40 unicorns, 6,800 exhibitors from 180 countries, and an impressive 1,200 investors with over US$ 1 trillion ready to invest in cutting-edge technology.
Organized by the Dubai World Trade Center (DWTC), GITEX runs concurrently with Expand North Star, an event hosted by the Dubai Chamber of Digital Economy. Here, startups and scale-ups showcase their innovations that could redefine the future of tech.
It’s a fascinating look at where we stand in the technology timeline and where we’re headed next. The entire tech ecosystem is on display, from major tech companies showing how their products can help businesses operate more efficiently, to manufacturers of optical and copper wires essential for robotics and data centers.

Twenty-Six Halls of Tech
GITEX Global features 26 halls spread across seven areas, excluding Expand North Star. The largest area is the Global Pavilion and AI/Cloud area, covering halls one to ten. Major players like AWS, Google Cloud, and Microsoft are present, showcasing groundbreaking technologies such as the next-generation smart contact lenses from XPANCEO.

This technology, although a few years away from commercialization, includes demonstrations of multiple proofs of concept, showcasing how ultra-thin circuits in laminate film could make this science fiction a reality.

While flying cars may capture attention, as a motorbike enthusiast, I find fascination closer to the ground. However, the innovative designs and concepts for aerial transport are undeniably impressive.
Global Digital Cities and Cyber Valley
The second-largest area features Global Digital Cities, which spans halls twelve to nineteen. This represents a “government supermarket” of the world, where ministers can explore the latest AI technologies aimed at alleviating congestion, monitoring air quality, and improving public services. surveillance technology has also made its mark here, including drones on demand from pods.

Halls twenty to twenty-six incorporate the AI & Connectivity area and Cyber Valley. Here one can witness the symbiotic relationship between connectivity and AI, showcased by various robots, some of which are quite adorable.

Located in the corner of Cyber Valley, the main stage has attracted large crowds eager to hear from tech leaders discussing our pivotal time in the technology landscape.

So far, talks have featured prominent figures like Sam Altman and Peng Xiao discussing the current landscape of AI as well as insights from Greg Jackson on its demands on energy infrastructure. The event is brimming with knowledge as pioneers discuss how new neural networks and efficient chips are bringing AI into homes, a testament to the transformative power of modern technology.
