Nvidia Launches the DGX Spark: A Personal AI Supercomputer for Everyone
Nvidia has announced that it will start selling its DGX Spark, a revolutionary “personal AI supercomputer,” beginning Wednesday, October 15th. This innovative machine allows users to work on sophisticated AI models while being compact enough to fit on a standard desktop.
Availability and Pricing
Starting on October 15th, the DGX Spark will be available for order at nvidia.com and from selected partners and retail stores in the U.S. Initially announced at a price of $3,000, the current listed price for the DGX Spark is set at $3,999, as clarified in an infographic included in Nvidia’s recent press release. Various PC manufacturers, including Acer with its Veriton GN100 model, will offer their own customized versions of the Spark, all aligning with the $3,999 pricing.
Empowering AI Researchers and Students
The DGX Spark redefines access to powerful computing resources, previously only available in expensive, energy-intensive data centers. By bringing such capabilities to individual desks, Nvidia aims to democratize AI technology. “Placing an AI supercomputer on the desks of every data scientist, AI researcher, and student empowers them to engage and shape the age of AI,” said Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang when the Spark was first revealed earlier this year.
Customizable Models from Leading PC Makers
Nvidia has opened the door for third-party manufacturers to develop their own versions of the Spark. Acer, Asus, Dell, Gigabyte, HP, Lenovo, and MSI are among the names confirmed to participate in this offering, ensuring a variety of customized models in the market.
Impressive Specifications
Equipped with Nvidia’s GB10 Grace Blackwell Superchip, 128GB of unified memory, and up to 4TB of NVMe SSD storage, the DGX Spark is a powerhouse of performance. It can deliver an astounding petaflop of AI capability, capable of performing one million billion calculations each second. Furthermore, it can manage AI models with up to 200 billion parameters, making it a fantastic tool for researchers and developers alike. Its compact size allows it to seamlessly fit on any desk and it operates using a standard power outlet, establishing the DGX Spark as “the world’s smallest AI supercomputer.”
Correction, October 13th: An earlier version of this article incorrectly stated that the DGX Spark was available for purchase. It will officially go on sale on October 15th.
