Teenage Engineering Introduces the Computer-2 PC Case
Thinking of building a new computer? What if I told you that you could get the PC case for free? You probably wouldn’t believe me, would you? Well, you can—albeit with a couple of notable caveats. Teenage Engineering, a brand typically associated with innovative audio hardware, has unveiled a sequel to its Computer-1 PC case, aptly named the Computer-2.
The exciting twist? Unlike the original’s price tag of $149, the Computer-2 is free. However, there are changes to note: it’s made of plastic instead of aluminum, which is a significant departure from its predecessor.

Design and Specifications
The Computer-2 case features a unique construction: it’s made from a single sheet of semi-transparent plastic that folds into a complete PC chassis using hinges and snap hooks. This means that there are no screws needed for assembly, a significant convenience for users. The motherboard can simply be pushed and clicked into place, making the build process straightforward.
However, it’s essential to note that the Computer-2 is designed for a small form-factor (SFF) PC build, accommodating only a mini-ITX motherboard. It can fit an SFX power supply and a dual-slot graphics card, up to a maximum length of 7 inches.
Along with the plastic chassis, users will receive necessary components such as power cables, fasteners, and feet to stabilize the case.
What Are the Catches?
So, how is it possible for Teenage Engineering to offer the Computer-2 at no cost? Unlike traditional offerings, the company charges a fee for shipping, which is necessary to cover the logistics and production costs. While you’re technically getting the components for free, you will need to factor in this added cost.
Currently, the Computer-2 is already out of stock on the official website. Users can only sign up to receive a notification when it becomes available again. However, detailed assembly instructions are accessible online, giving potential builders a glimpse of what to expect.
Past reviews of the Computer-1 have praised it as an excellent choice for small PC builds, and this new plastic variant appears to carry forward that reputation while redefining affordability.
For those contemplating less expensive PC case options, it’s worth noting that budget cases can also offer great value. However, be mindful of airflow issues, particularly for gaming builds, and always consult reviews to avoid subpar products. For more guidance, refer to our best PC cases buying guide.
