The Arrival of the Nothing Phone (4b)

The Nothing Phone (4b) has officially launched, claiming to be the device with the longest-lasting battery from the company to date. However, it’s essential to note that model (b) is not an outright upgrade over (a); instead, it occupies a space between the (4a) and the (3a) Lite.

Performance Specifications

Under the hood, the Nothing Phone (4b) runs on the Snapdragon 6 Gen 4 chipset. This marks an improvement over its predecessor, the (3a) Lite, which utilized the Dimensity 7300 Pro; however, it still falls short of the (4a) that features the more powerful Snapdragon 7s Gen 4. The (3a) Lite is priced at €250/£250, while the (4a) sits at €350/£380/₹40,000. The (4b) launches at a competitive price of €330/£300 and is available for pre-order from Nothing.tech.

For the most part, only an 8/128GB version is offered in different regions, and unlike the (3a) Lite, there is no option for a microSD slot. However, the phone will come with an option of 8/256GB in India, exclusively through Flipkart. The device features LPDDR4X RAM and UFS 2.2 storage for efficient performance.

Display Features

The (4b) showcases a 6.77” OLED display with 1080p+ resolution, remaining notably similar to the (3a) Lite display. With a refresh rate of 120Hz, it peaks at brightness levels of 1,200 nits in outdoor mode and 2,000 nits under peak conditions. The screen is safeguarded by Dragontrail Pro Glass to withstand everyday wear and tear.

Camera Capabilities

On the camera front, the Nothing Phone (4b) is equipped with a main sensor of 50MP, paired with an f/1.8 lens featuring Optical Image Stabilization (OIS). Additionally, an 8MP ultra-wide sensor provides a 120° field of view. Users can capture video in 4K at 30fps or 1080p at 60fps, making this device suitable for photography enthusiasts.

Design and Additional Features

The device includes a unique Glyph Bar on the back, featuring four white LEDs and a red one for notifications, customizable through Nothing OS. The selfie camera is a 16MP unit, offering an 82° lens, suitable for high-quality video calls and selfies.

As for connectivity, the (4b) supports dual-SIM capability, with Japan getting the added option of eSIM. Connectivity features include dual-band Wi-Fi 6 (ax), Bluetooth 6.0, and NFC (except in India). However, a 3.5mm headphone jack is notably absent. The device is also equipped with stereo speakers and dual microphones for an enhanced audio experience.
