Why the MacBook Air M5 is My Next Big Upgrade
Another Apple launch event has come and gone, unveiling a plethora of exciting gadgets. While many are buzzing about the affordable MacBook Neo and the impressive new MacBook Pro, my attention is solely on the new MacBook Air M5. After years with my trusty but outdated MacBook Pro 2017, I’ve decided it’s time to embrace the advancements of the 2020s.
My MacBook Pro, nearing a decade old, has aged gracefully until recently. Its fraying LCD display cable has wreaked havoc, warping colors and creating a visual experience reminiscent of the mid-1980s EGA graphics. Crisscrossed lines now make every app and image appear as if wrapped in tweed, a far cry from its former glory.
As a tech journalist, this outdated performance is less than ideal. Beyond the aesthetics, the internal machinery can’t keep up. The Intel chipset is increasingly inadequate for my needs, particularly in music production and digital art, where CPU usage often hits stratospheric levels. With these workflows pushing my laptop to its limits, an upgrade has become inevitable.
Why the MacBook Air M5 Has My Attention
The decision to switch to the MacBook Air M5 stems from several factors that make it a notable advancement over previous models. In summary, the combination of powerful performance, adequate storage, and a reasonable price point places the MacBook Air M5 squarely in my sights.
