The Launch of the abxylute 3D One: A New Player in Handheld Gaming

The handheld gaming PC market is buzzing with excitement as the abxylute 3D One prepares for its launch in mid-November. This innovative device, initially known as the Sunday Dragon 3D One prototype, promises to be a game-changer in handheld gaming, primarily due to its unique features and competitive specifications.

  • The once Sunday Dragon 3D One prototype handheld is now launching mid-November as the abxylute 3D One
  • The company claims it will be the ‘world’s first’ glasses-free 3D handheld gaming PC
  • Its retail price will be $1,799, costing nearly as much as GPD Win 5, which is the most powerful handheld gaming PC

Scheduled to launch on Kickstarter, the abxylute 3D One has an estimated release date of November 13. The retail price is set at $1,799, but early-bird backers can snag it for $1,499 for a limited time. As the industry continues to see rapid offerings, including the recent releases of the Lenovo Legion Go 2 and the ROG Xbox Ally series, the abxylute 3D One stands out with its ambitious features.

Impressive Specifications

Equipped with a 10.95-inch screen—which is potentially the largest for a handheld gaming PC so far—the abxylute 3D One boasts a display resolution of 2560×1600. This device is powered by Intel’s advanced Lunar Lake Core Ultra 7 258V processor, a high-performing component also found in the MSI Claw 8 AI+. The standout feature? The device is marketed as the ‘world’s first’ glasses-free 3D handheld gaming PC, which could appeal to gamers looking for an immersive experience.

It’s essential to clarify that while the device claims to be the first glasses-free 3D handheld gaming PC, it doesn’t hold that title overall. The Nintendo 3DS predates it in terms of handheld gaming and glasses-free 3D capabilities. However, if it launches before the DigiEra HoloMax—a hybrid laptop-handheld—then it could arguably claim the title within the PC realm.

The abxylute 3D One caught attention earlier this January during CES 2025 when the prototype was first revealed. Gamers showed interest, but many wonder whether a handheld of this size—almost reminiscent of a compact laptop—is practical, especially at this price point.

Mixed Reactions to Pricing and Size

Critics have already raised eyebrows over the retail price of $1,799, which is nearly equal to the GPD Win 5, currently the most powerful handheld gaming PC on the market. The concern is that while the abxylute 3D One includes some high-end features, it may not meet the same performance capabilities as its competitors.

Many gamers feel that the glasses-free 3D capability, along with the large screen size, may not justify the hefty price tag. The Steam Deck’s success can largely be attributed to its affordability and reasonable specifications, making the market question the demand for an 11-inch handheld device.

While there is undoubtedly an audience for larger handhelds, this launch serves as a reminder that bigger doesn’t always mean better. A focus on portability and practicality remains crucial in the handheld gaming market, yet the abxylute 3D One is certainly pushing the limits of design and pricing.
